Case overview

In order to enter a home early in the morning without disturbing the residents, a landscape worker reached through a metal gate blocking access to the home’s driveway and activated the controller to retract the gate. Before he could remove his arm from the gate, it began to move, ultimately trapping and suffocating him between the gate and a pillar at the side of the driveway. We analyzed and tested the design and setup of the controller in order to understand how the accident occurred and if the gate was properly designed and installed.
